Matt and Tricia got married on a beautiful spring day in Jefferson City, Missouri and my face STILL HURTS from all of the SMILING! Now backstory - bride Tricia is a Methodist pastor with my husband Andy, so we know each other fairly well. It’s a real blessing to be a part of your friend’s weddings when they get married, and I feel SO blessed to have been asked to be their wedding photographer and to have been a part of this beautiful day.
The day started with everyone getting ready at Wesley United Methodist Church where the ceremony would be held. Tricia has a generous and thoughtful spirit and gifted every member of her wedding party with a special gift just for them, including Build-A-Bears for the kids and jewelry for the mother-in-laws. One of my favorite moments was when her dad gifted her with a pence coin and “runaway money” in her shoe in case she decided not to go through with the marriage - classic dad move! The wedding ceremony was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. The officiant, Pastor Bob Cassidy, had baptized Tricia as a baby, and it was special that he could marry Matt and Tricia. As you can see from the photos, Matt was pretty pumped to be married to Tricia!
The rain cleared just in time and we headed into family photos to capture all of the family members that had traveled to witness their marriage. They both have big, beautiful families that shared in their special day. Then we took a quick photo trip to the Carnahan Memorial Garden (Governor’s Gardens) and Amtrak station in downtown Jefferson City with their wedding party in tow. Their wedding party was so fun! We high tailed it back to the Capital Ritz Event Center for dinner and specialty cupcakes. Toasts from the best man and maid of honor (complete with signs!) were so fun and had the whole room erupting with laughter. The party continued with first dances, the chicken dance (fan favorite), wedding anniversary dance, garter toss and bouquet toss. Tricia was sure to gather up a lot of flowers to look like a bouquet and then toss them so every girl could go home with a flower from their wedding. No detail was forgotten!
I’m so happy for these two (plus their daughter Amyliah!) and wish them a life of happiness and love! Cheers to the newlyweds.
